Background
Auction.com’s marketplace processes tens of thousands of assets from hundreds of sellers every week. Sellers would receive manually built reports from client management outlining how their portfolio of assets had performed in the marketplace over the previous month. These static performance reviews lacked the accessibility and transparency sellers required to take timely actions and sell more assets.
Goals & Rational
- Increase trust and value proposition for sellers
- Reduce barriers and lag in accessing all levels of performance data
- Empower sellers to confidently manage asset pricing independently
Sellers want to understand as much as possible about their auction performance so they can limit their exposure to risk and make the most informed decisions possible. We tasked ourselves to collect and present performance data to sellers through an intelligent, accessible and actionable platform.
Inside Client Ops
Interviews with client management and analysts uncovered many opportunities to improve on the current reports as well as how to tell a more compelling narrative to sellers.
The Seller Journey
We mapped out the seller’s risk mitigation decision making process as they weigh accepting current market prices today with the carrying cost of potentially capturing a greater price tomorrow.
Context is King
We conducted whiteboarding sessions with cross-functional groups to illustrate how sellers could drill down from a high-level portfolio view into a specific individual asset through a seamless and intuitive interface.
Iterative Design
Reports, metrics and features were explored in more detailed mockups and improved through iterative feedback loops.
Results
Sellers were delighted when they realized that they could see performance data at the asset level and adjust prices directly on the platform. Our intuitive interface provided powerful portfolio performance data and unmatched marketplace insights. The tool allowed internal client operations to focus on providing deeper more impactful analysis for our sellers instead of spending the majority of their time building manual reports.
